Conte is a draft-eligible sophomore.
In 2026 with the Demon Deacons, Conte hit .274 with 12 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs. He was their primary catcher, starting 35 games at the position and handling power arms behind the plate. He projects to be Vanderbilt's everyday starter at the position.
Conte was ranked the No. 304 player in the draft by Baseball America, which translated to approximately a 10th-round pick. However, after withdrawing, he will no longer be eligible to be selected. He was ranked the No. 21 player in the transfer portal by Baseball America.
Two other transfer commits for the Commodores are draft eligible, Western Kentucky lefty Dominic Monaco and Wofford outfielder Niko Brini, but neither is expected to be selected.
Vanderbilt also has several current players and high school signees who could be selected in the draft, which begins July 11.
