Travis Kelce has received a positive injury update ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ meeting with the Seattle Seahawks, despite the NFL deciding against punishing Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley for the tackle that injured him.

Kelce suffered an ankle injury during the Chiefs’ victory over the Chargers after a tackle that sparked questions about whether Henley had committed a hip-drop tackle.

The NFL has since issued its disciplinary decisions for the relevant round of games, but Henley escaped a fine while another Chargers player was punished.

Travis Kelce cleared to face Seattle Seahawks as Daiyan Henley avoids NFL punishment

The Chiefs listed Kelce as a limited participant throughout the week because of his ankle problem.

However, he entered the weekend without an injury designation, indicating he is available for the Seahawks matchup.

Kelce initially went down in the opening quarter against the Chargers after what appeared to be a hip-drop tackle. Despite the injury, he returned to the game after the Chiefs’ medical staff taped his ankle.

The veteran tight end finished with four catches for 53 yards as Kansas City secured a 22-6 victory.

However, the NFL’s Office of Gameday Accountability did not include Henley among the players fined for on-field misconduct. The decision could frustrate Chiefs supporters who believed the tackle warranted disciplinary action.

PJ Green of the Kansas City Star had described the incident on X, writing: “Daiyan Henley’s tackle on Travis Kelce was a sliding hip drop where his shoulder dinged Kelce’s ankle.”

While Henley avoided punishment, Chargers rookie offensive guard Alex Harkey was fined $5,277 for a late hit against Kansas City early in the fourth quarter.

Kelce’s availability is welcome news for the Chiefs as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

A victory over the defending champion Seahawks would take Kansas City to 6-0 and keep them at the top of the AFC standings.

With Patrick Mahomes and Kelce available, the Chiefs have received a timely boost ahead of a challenging road test. The focus now shifts to whether they can extend their winning run against Seattle.
